ICT-Inspired Musical Learning!
I'd like to get cross-curricular again for a moment. In brushing up on some basic Spanish I've stumbled upon quite a few handy sing-alongs. Because the Audio and Video page is dedicated more towards different programs that can be used, i'm finding that my 'Other Resources' page is becoming slightly crowded. Maybe I'll look into a separate page for ICT-led singing and music...
...and just like that it has been created!
So, as I was saying, there's quite a lot of helpful songs out there for many different subjects. I'd like to share some of my findings with you all.
Veo a un animal...

...¿Qué es?
This picture links to the BBC Schools Spanish website, more precisely to the songs section. My favourite at the minute has to be 'I see an animal', although I'm still on the subtitled version.
It's not just the songs that could liven up a language lesson, it's also the pronunciation sounds throughout the vocabularly pages that add something extra.
I believe this resource could be used independently by children when researching a MFL (topics are clearly defined and user-friendly), but also something that a teacher could use to reinforce some key vocab through the medium of song.
Reflection: Just used the subtitled song during a MFL planning session and it worked pretty well. Some useful AfL opportunities also surfaced, such as pausing the video and assessing who in the class can name the appropriate adjective.
Further use of this resource could include children creating their own animal descriptions to make a totally new song, thus wrapping MFL, music, literacy skills and a bit of science into a nice little package!

Uno mas!
The video below links to youtube where we find another catchy Spanish sing-along. Again it looks like a good one for the early units with animal/pet-based content. Of course many schools don't allow youtube access, so if you can't find your desired video elsewhere try this YouTube Downloader - and you'll have them on your memory stick in no time!
"Oh Dear" said Pete!
You knew it was coming. Dave Godfrey here doing for number bonds what Johnny Depp did for unwashed pirates. This video illustrates only a small portion of the joy that can be had using Number Fun. There's also an iPhone app for Farmer Pete and more, check my app page for more information.
